Extended Service Contract Myths
“I don’t need an extended service contract, I’m covered by the manufacturer”.
Typically, when your manufacturer’s warranty expires, that’s when serious problems can arise. The consumer can be exposed to large repair losses. Auto extended contracts have benefits like towing, car rental, toll free assistance, trip interruption, and lost key lockout. Once the original factory warranty ends, the extended service plan picks up for another few years.
“I’ll just buy my auto warranty at the dealer, it’s convenient”.
It might be considered “convenient”, but it certainly is not cheaper. The automobile dealer is just a form of “middleman”, and as such, the cost is typically much more at the dealer. Car dealers often resell the extended warranty to you at 2 to 3 times what they paid. Dealers usually do not show you the contract in advance, so the consumer has no idea what features and benefits they are receiving.
Transferable extended auto warranty when you sell the car
Some extended service contracts end when the consumer sells their car. When selecting coverage, the consumer should choose a plan, and a provider that allows them to transfer the contract to the next owner, thereby, adding to the value of the vehicle.
Repairs Can Be Done At Any ASE Certified Repair Shop
Some ESPs force the customer to get serviced at the dealer where they bought the vehicle. Our plans allow repairs to be performed by any ASE certified shop, or dealership nationwide, and throughout Canada.
Extended Service Contract provider that pays the repair shop directly
Some providers make the customer first pay, then submit their receipt, and wait months, allowing them to avoid or delay paying. Choose a plan or provider that pays the repair shop directly.
Is it a “Breakdown” service contract or a “Wear & Tear” contract? You want BOTH!
Often the extended contract sold by car dealers is a confusing mechanical breakdown insurance policy that can cost over $4000! The customer should want both “wear & tear” AND “mechanical breakdown” coverage in their contract. Some items wear down, they don’t break, so they are not covered by a car dealer’s mechanical breakdown policy. Consumers often complain that car dealers lie to them and tell them “everything” is covered, giving a false sense of security. Some car dealer programs require that all repairs be performed by their specific dealership. What happens when the customer can’t get their car back to a dealer?
NAG combines wear & tear and mechanical breakdown, all in one extended contract, and allows the customer the option to have repairs done either at their dealership of choice, or any ASE certified repair ship throughout the US, and Canada.
